Giddah is always looking for the high standard of function and durability, and work with our suppliers to have sustainable fibres as many materials as possible. Our aim is that all our products will one day be organic and recyclable and that as many as possible. Now it’s expanding…..
Organic cotton/Linen are the cotton/linen planted in the land where chemical substances have not been used for more than three years and natural or human compost is used, instead. As a result, organic cotton/Linen do not cause any harm to the land and human beings like what the planting of ordinary cotton/Linen would. However, the characteristics of organic cotton/Linen are the same as those of the conventional ones in that it are also soft and delicate, breathable and moisture wicking. It can be blended with other fibers.
Recycled polyester is the most sustainable fiber used to produce weather-resistant outerwear.Polyester recycling means to collect those used polyester materials, such as PET bottles, old clothing, etc., to cut them into pieces, to melt them, to remove impurities from them, to decolor them, re-aggregate them into polyester raw materials, to turn them into fibers, and then to have the fibers twisted into yarns and woven into eco-conscious fabrics.
The advantages of using recycled polyester are:
1. To reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
2. To reduce waste, thereby extending the life of landfills and reducing emissions from incinerators.
3. To reduce pollution on air, water, and soil.
4. Compared to that of new raw materials, the use of recycled polyester lowers carbon dioxide emissions by 77% and reduces energy consumption up to 84%.
Like polyester, virgin nylon fiber is made from crude oil. The recycled nylon we use in some of our products comes from post-industrial waste fiber and yarn collected from a spinning factory and processed into reusable nylon fiber. Another recycled nylon fiber we are experimenting with is re-created from discarded industrial fishing nets.
Benefits of recycled nylon:
• Uses no crude oil
• Requires less energy and creates less CO2 pollution than virgin nylon
• Reduces discards and incinerator emissions
• Recyclable again at the end of its life
We fill ECO 100%recycled polyester insulation to keep our insulating garments warmer and more sustainable.
